Barbara Gladstone, Renowned Art Dealer, Passes Away in Paris


BARBARA GLADSTONE (1934–2024), the influential art dealer who established one of New York's premier galleries, died on Sunday in Paris after a brief illness. She was a pivotal figure in the art world, known for her keen eye for talent and dedication to contemporary art.


Gladstone's legacy lives on through her eponymous Gladstone Gallery, which has expanded its presence globally with locations in New York, Brussels, Seoul, and Rome. The gallery is celebrated for its impressive roster of artists, including Matthew Barney, Alex Katz, Joan Jonas, Wangechi Mutu, Keith Haring, Robert Rauschenberg, Carrie Mae Weems, Arthur Jafa, and many others.


Her passing marks the end of an era for the contemporary art scene, leaving behind a gallery that continues to thrive and shape the art world.
